General purpose construction material. Called a 2x4 but does not actually measure 2in x 4in. Actual dimensions are usually 1 ½in x 3 ½in. Can be used as is or cut down to a smaller dimension on the table saw. Great for framing-out structures to stand on their own or to be skinned with a sheet good of some kind. Can easily be cut to length on a chop saw. Be mindful to choose the straightest one you can find.
